About Fiona

My work is rooted in observational drawing and envisions Analogue Futures where hand-driven processes invite viewers to consider the enduring power of presence, craft and attentive looking in shaping new understandings of humanity’s place within the shifting scientific and technological landscape of today. Increasingly, we live, work and travel side by side, yet often in isolation – absorbed in our smart devices, headphones on, with little real interaction.

The current gallery shows the glass installation of Instruments of Soft Data 2025 (movable glass, 24ct gold, MDF and sunlight. 122 x 122cm) functioning as an artistic tool, capturing not the hard data of technology use, but maps "soft data" — the fleeting, emotional and relational aspects of contemporary life that evade measurement.

Relying on the sun as its energy source, the installation creates works of intricate connections that move, change and are lost over time. In the series of limited edition giclee photographic and cyanotype prints The Infosphere 2025, the positive and negative imagery created serves as a metaphor from which to consider our relationships with technology and each other. The play of light across a surface speaks of the invisible connections we make through radio and light waves as we use our smart devices.
